Matfen Hall, the extravagant former seat of Sir Edward Blackett, now owned by Sir David Harrison, sits in the stunning county of Northumberland.

View West Photography was commissioned by Projector Brand Communications to update some photography for Matfen Hall’s new marketing plan’s.

First of all we walked around the property with the marketing team to find a killer angle, the equipment was all set up well in advance, and then you wait…

When the time is right you get about a ten minute window to balance the property’s interior lighting with the twilight in which the atmosphere is partially illuminated by the sun, the world being neither totally dark or completely light, like being asleep and awake at the same time. It is such a special part of the day for a hotel photographer as it is so beautiful but so very short.
